Alma Soprano ICE is safe for all skin types. Many earlier laser technologies for hair removal can cause skin discoloration, especially in patients with darker skin tones. However, because of the unique technology behind the Alma Soprano, the hair removal treatments are safe for all skin types and can be performed any time of year.
The typical laser hair removal patient will need 5-8 treatment sessions, spaced approximately 6-8 weeks apart, to target all of the hair follicles in the treatment area. Multiple treatment sessions are necessary because hair on the body grows in cycles, and while some follicles may be growing hair, others may be in a resting phase. Because the laser targets melanin in the hair, the follicle must be in a growth phase in order to be targeted effectively.
The duration of the treatment session will depend on the size of the treatment area. For a medium body area we typically schedule 30 minutes.
Because of the specialized cooling technology, patients feel virtually no pain or discomfort during the procedure. Of course, this will vary from patient to patient, based on individual sensitivities.
Some patients may experience mild redness or skin sensitivity after the procedure. However, these side effects are typically mild, and do not cause noticeable discomfort.

For one month prior to treatment, avoid sun exposure, as well as tanning beds and tanning creams. Use a broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunblock SPF 50 or greater when treatment area is exposed to the sun. If you are tanned, you may not be treated.

On the day of treatment, it is important that you clean the area to be treated.

Male patients that are having their faces and neck treated, you should be clean shaven before the procedure.
